This learning center featured information about George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and George W. Bush. Students read the facts and placed them in the slot of the right president. Cards were color coded for self-checking.

We wanted to know how big the Statue of Liberty was, and why she was that funny green color. For the first investigation, each group was given a piece of string to measure. Each represented a different part of the statue: two eyes, the nose, and mouth. For the color investigation, we put a vinegar on a napkin, folded it and placed it inside a paper cup and put a penny on it. We left it overnight and the next morning, the penny was that same green color!! This experiment represented the effects of weathering on the metal of the statue.
