The Apple
This is one of our projects:
We also do apple prints and construction paper apple cores.
At the end of our unit, we get to cook up some great deserts.
We all got to peel, slice and core an apple.

Then we made cinnamon apples, apple crisp, and apple muffins.
For cinnamon apples, we used 1 apple for every 2 students and put them into a crock pot. Next, we added about 1/2 c. of Red Hots candies. We cooked them on high for a little over an hour and they were ready at the end of our lunch!
For the apple crisp, we used a store bought mix to cover about 5-6 of the apples we had peeled, cored, and sliced. We baked this in the oven for about 55 minutes.
For the apple muffins, we used a mix and added milk. Instead of putting them into muffin pans (mini-muffin pans would work great), we cooked them in a sheet pan.
We graph the results of which dessert we like best.
