Front of binder: Notes from School/ To Turn In	Notes from School including In The Know, and our weekly class newsletter will be here. Take these out nightly! Returned forms and completed homework will be returned to me in this pocket of the notebook.
Zipper Pocket: Money & Word Wall	This is where students put money for lunch or field trips. The other compartment of the zipper pouch will be for our word wall cards. Practice them nightly! Keep reviewing, too!
Yellow Weekly Behavior Chart	This section will have a copy of a weekly behavior chart. I will fill in the chart on daily. Please be sure to initial the chart each night. If I mark a blue star, your child had a warning. I will also write the number of times a card was put up for each behavior listed. An unmarked star means no warnings!
Notebook paper: Parent/Teacher Communication	This will be for notes between you and me. Please stress to your children that this is ONLY for your teacher and parents to write in. I will be writing notes to you in this section and looking for communications from you there. PLEASE DATE EACH ENTRY! Check daily and I will do the same for communications from you. I would also ask that you leave any notes that we may write in the notebook so that we can look back and remember any communications we may have had. This will help me remember what we've discussed and when we discussed it. Also, please check the "note" box on the behavior form so I will know to look for your note! I try to check it regularly, but occasionally we get busy and a note goes unread. I initial all notes I read from you and ask that you do the same! That way, we know our notes have been read, even when no response is necessary.
Sheet protector:	Our class schedule, procedures and contact information
Poetry Section	We will be adding a season/thematic poem to our binder weekly or bi-weekly. These poems are a great way to practice good reading skills with your child at home.
Plastic Folder/Envelope: Graded Papers	This folder will contain super duper work done by your "smart brained kid." Please remove it nightly and discuss it with your child. After you have "oooed and ahhhed" over it, I'm sure you'll want to show off this work on the refrigerator. ENJOY!!!
Back of binder: Homework Section	This section is where you will find weekly spelling lists, math facts practice pages, and any other sheets needed for homework! The "homework" box will be checked on the behavior form in the front of the book, so you know what nights your child has homework! All homework should be returned the following school day.
